Superpave Asphalt Technology Program - The University of Texas at Austin maintains state-of-the-art transportation materials, teaching and research facilities. The laboratory of the Superpave Asphalt Research Program is fully equipped to perform a wide variety of asphalt binder and mixture testing. Canadian Strategic Highway Research Program - Continuing to improve the performance and durability of highways and make them safer for motorists and highway workers. Strategic Highway Research Program - Established by Congress in 1987 as a 5-year $150 million research program to improve the performance and durability of our nation's roads and to make those roads safer for both motorists and highway workers. SHRP Superpave Lead States Team - Developed under the Strategic Highway Research Program, the Superpave system gives pavement designers the tools needed to tailor asphalt mixes to specific traffic loads and climates. Thus, an asphalt mix for an Interstate highway near Chicago will be designed for extremely low winter temperatures and heavy traffic, while a mix for a country road in Louisiana will be designed for hot summers and light traffic. Transportation Research Board - A unit of the National Research Council, a private, nonprofit institution that is the principal operating agency of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering. The Board's mission is to promote innovation and progress in transportation by stimulating and conducting research, facilitating the dissemination of information, and encouraging the implementation of research results.
